If you’re interested in starting a business that you can run from your own home selling products, you might want to look into a Direct Sales business opportunity. You may have heard of Tupperware, Avon, Pampered Chef or Home and Garden. They are just a few of many business opportunities available that a person could join to begin a product-focused business. Everyone loves hosting a get together in their neighborhood even if its just to get a hostess gift. You may find this style of home business is much more fun than you think.

Direct Sales products vary from books to educational toys to food. The hardest part may be deciding which product you want to sell and finding the company that is a perfect fit for you. Don’t be afraid to do your research. Ask around, survey your friends, get in touch with others doing the same thing.

What skills and tools are needed to be successful in a Direct Sales Business?

Most business opportunities require you to pay a startup fee, so decide ahead of time how much you’re willing to spend to begin your selling adventure. When you find products you like, learn everything you can about the company behind the products. Check out their websites, and find out if they’re a web friendly company and provide websites to their representatives. Learn about their internet marketing rules as some companies are restrictive to the point of really making it difficult for you to grow beyond your own community. Some companies will not let you do any internet advertising at all, so, if you plan to grow your business online, ask the hard questions in advance to avoid frustration later.

To start your own Direct Sales business you will need good selling skills and the passion to succeed because, despite popular opinion, products do not sell themselves. You will be working with people a lot, and building relationships, so good customer service skills are a must. It would be a good idea to learn some light book keeping skills as you will be keeping track of orders and payments etc.

The tools you will need for a business like this will depend on the type of business you choose. Some basic tools are a computer with internet connection, telephone and a starter pack of items that the company usually provides you in your starter kit. A website is also needed to promote the goods you’re selling even if the company does give you a rep site, you will be smart to develop your own personal online presence for marketing.

A Direct Sales Business can be a fun and easy way to earn some income while enjoying time with people and filling your home with products you love. It’s simple to get started and doesn’t usually cost much to get a business like this off the ground compared to many other home business projects.

I sell Avon door-to-door. Many of my customers work during the day, and with two young boys at home, I can’t always make my rounds in the evening when folks are at home. Since sales have been slow lately, I decided to get a little crazy with my brochure distribution efforts. Every Avon Representative I know drops her brochures in the same places I do – schools, the senior center, nail salons. I decided I needed to get creative, get colorful, so that my brochures will stand out from the crowd.

Here are three inexpensive ways I came up with to bring some attention to my Avon business this week:

1. I recorded a funny and informative advertisement with sound effects (courtesy of my boys) for my three favorite Avon products. I burned the ad on a CD along with several recordings of my favorite Avon Adventures stories. I handed copies of this CD to the two nursing homes in home town, as well as the Senior Center.

Many seniors have trouble with their vision and can’t read the tiny print in the brochures. I made the brochure come to life with music and jokes! I already received several decent orders due to the CD and I just handed them out yesterday.

2. I bought two dozen helium balloons in primary colors at the party store, a cost of eight dollars total. I delivered two balloons and a brochure stuffed with samples and trial sizes of Skin So Soft, Avon bubblebath, and cheerful lipstick. I handed these out at every Day Care center in town. The caregivers LOVED the balloons – they added a splash of whimsy to another routine day. Again, I received several nice orders since I distributed these earlier in the week.

3. I ripped out a page featuring lipstick in the latest Avon brochure. I folded it into an origami swan, and tucked a lipstick sample between its wings. I left them sitting on top of my brochure, on the stoops of people not at home when I came to call. I received two calls last night from customers who called to say how “darling” the creatures were, and that they would be making a list of items to order.

I realized this morning that I let my business get stale, expected people to open a random book and order. It just doesn’t work that way. You need to make a personal connection, to let your potential customer hear your voice, see the work of your hands, feel the colors that dance through your mind.

In today’s economic times, starting your own home-based business has become an increasingly popular way to make additional income. The choices you have in deciding what type of home business to have are enormous. When first starting out I would advise that you take a few minutes to sit down and write out a list of hobbies you enjoy, or things that you are knowledgeable about, and look for a home business built around that.

Next, go online and begin looking for the best rated home businesses in your particular field. It will be easy to find one that will suite your needs and desires. Need some help in getting ideas? Here is a quick list of some of the best rated home businesses available today.

Direct Sales – The Internet is quickly becoming the world’s marketplace. You can sell and purchase anything online. This has opened up a brand new era in direct sales. Before you say, “I’m not a salesperson”, understand that the power of the Internet can do a lot of the selling for you. You will have a website for customers to go to and order your products from. You will not be doing any of the shipping; the company will take care of that for you. Many times you are even paid directly from the customer first, eliminating having to wait on getting paid. Your biggest need in any direct sales home business will be an advertising budget to draw traffic to your website. The direct sales industry is a great way to build a large home business income in a quick amount of time.

Crafts – If you are the type of person who enjoys arts and crafts, you can definitely start your own home business doing that. You can easily sell crafts at any local flea market, or have a table at the next crafts fair in your area. Another option in this area is to work for a company putting together crafts. You can find companies online that will pay you to make their craft projects. They give you a list of all materials needed, you make the items per their instructions, and you send them in to the company for approval. After that you are sent a check. I strongly recommend you research the companies before starting. There are many less than reputable craft businesses on the Internet today.

Website and Graphic Design – This can be a very exciting and fast-paced field to work in from home. If you have good computer and graphic skills then this may be the home business for you. You will need to have some decent marketing skills in order to build your business, but once you get started you will get a lot of word of mouth referrals. Because of the continuing boom of the Internet this is certainly one of the best rated home businesses available today.

Child Care / Day Care – Do you love kids of all ages? Consider getting certified and licensed to become a day care provider. There is a huge market available to professionals who provide this service. As a side benefit this business also allows you to spend time with your own children.

Sewing / Alterations – Sewing has become a lost art in the United States. If you are good at sewing and doing minor alterations then you could make good money from home in this area. The increased business from word of mouth alone will keep you continuously busy.

Cosmetics – Are you outgoing and enjoy meeting and talking to new people? Consider cosmetic sales as a home business. Whether it be with Mary Kay or Avon, you can make good money working in this field. You will need a good appearance and be good at PR in order to highly successful.

Accounting – Do you have a degree in accounting or book keeping? You can freelance at home by providing accounting services to individuals and small businesses. There is a growing demand for this service and it can provide an excellent income. It is certainly one of the best rated home businesses available.

MLM / Network Marketing – If you have many contacts, or enjoy talking to lots of people, then you may want to consider starting a network marketing home business. There are MLM opportunities in just about every field imaginable. Health and nutrition are very big areas to start a business in. Everyone wants to be healthy and look younger. This industry can make you a lot of money, but it will require a lot of work in the beginning. Patience and persistence is a big key.

Today when we talk about ways to earn an income with a stay at home business pretty much everything centers around the Internet. In this article we want to give you the top ways you can earn an income with a stay at home business using your computer and Internet connection.

Today when we talk about ways to earn an income with a stay at home business pretty much everything centers around the Internet. In this article we want to give you the top ways you can earn an income with a stay at home business using your computer and Internet connection.

1. You can make money taking surveys or doing data entry. This is actually possible because there are businesses that will pay consumers for their opinions. It not only gives you an opportunity to help influence the shape and design of future products, but it also allows you to earn money doing it.

2. Network marketing with companies such as Amway or Avon has been around for over 40 years. Today, there are literally thousands of network marketing companies you can join and make money with.

3. Affiliate marketing is a way you can earn money by selling other people’s products. This is an excellent way to start making money with a stay at home business online. There are various different ways to earn an income with affiliate marketing, and promoting other people’s products is one of them.

4. By recruiting affiliates you can earn commissions on their sales. This is known as two-tier affiliate marketing and is a great way to make money on the efforts of others if you enjoy working with people.

5. Buy products and sell them on eBay. Many millionaires have been created from products bought and sold on eBay. This is a great way to make a part-time income or even a full-time business.

6. Start your own blog and sell things on it. Readers really love blogs and so do the search engine. If you have something you enjoy talking about, you might as well try earning money talking about it online.

7. Write website or blog articles and get paid for them. There is a huge potential market for this because millions of websites owners and bloggers are crying out for content. If you enjoy writing, you can make a lot of money working from home doing this.

8. Become a virtual assistant and get paid to work for companies from the comfort of your own home. Many businesses prefer telecommuting employees over those who drive to work. As a virtual assistant you can provide your talents to businesses and get paid to do things such as typing, answering the phone, bookkeeping, and so on.

9. Sell memberships and earn residual income from them. Website hosting is an example of a membership service that you can promote and earn money from monthly as long as you maintain active status on the account. Niche marketing sites offer great residual income opportunities too.

These are the most effective ways to earn an income with a stay at home business. You are only limited by the extent of your ability to come up with new ideas, but you can certainly earn as much money as you want working from the comfort of your own home. So if, right now, you feel that your ability to discover new opportunities is limited, bear in mind that “hard work pays off”.

Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Are you a working mom who would rather build a home business than be at the office? If so, now is the perfect time for you to find out more about the Avon opportunity.

Why sell AVON?

If you love AVON and are a regular customer, the first reason to become an independent AVON representative is for the discount. For your first four campaigns (each campaign runs two weeks), you can earn 50% commission (50% discount on your own AVON products) when you place your order online and your sales for each campaign total $50 or more. The second incentive to sell AVON is the opportunity to own your own business. As a work-at-home-mom, I love being in control of my own schedule and owning my own home business. If I need to run out of the house to pick up my son or get groceries or do anything else more pertinent than work, I can when I want and know that my business is still running with my own personal AVON website. The best part about being an AVON e-representative is your “store” is always open for business. Also AVON is currently running the following promotion: as long as you have one e-customer per campaign, your $7.50 (per campaign) website fee is waived. The last reason to become an AVON rep is the opportunity of Leadership. Through leadership (sharing the AVON opportunity with others), you have unlimited earnings potential and the chance to build a successful downline business.

How to Sell AVON

Signing up to become an AVON representative is simple. All it takes to sell AVON is $10 and the willingness to learn. You will need to buy your own order books but the cost is only .19 – .575 cents per brochure depending on how many you purchase. Unlike many other work-at-home businesses, AVON requires a minimal investment to get your business up and running.

Request more information today at www.youravon.com/eseagren or email me at mle1102@yahoo.com.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.

(c) 2008 Linda Feinholz

What was once a ‘perfect fit’ has changed, several times in fact. I was reminded of that when I joined 250 colleagues at our annual get together this week. That’s 250 of over 1,000 members of the ProVisors organization of expert business advisors in Los Angeles. As I chatted with people I haven’t seen in months, or even a year, we caught up on all the ways we’ve each grown and changed our own businesses.

Time and again in those conversations we described the business model we’re now using, and who we are as professionals and business owners. And for many of us, those models have changed.

Here is some of my own learning. You might find it thought provoking as you consider your own.

When I moved into independent consulting in 1994, it thrilled me. Coming from many years of consulting with corporate giants like Avon, Disney, and clients of mega advisory firm Ernst & Young, I had a treasure chest of planning, management and problem solving tools to use with mid-sized business’s challenges.

I trimmed and simplified the systems and processes of those complex large-scale companies down so they’d be perfect for professional services firms, fast growing start-ups, and second-generation family owned businesses.

Having my corporate background has been a tremendous door opener for speaking engagements as well as with clients. (Quite honestly, I loved that professional identity!) It’s also been a quick credential with colleagues who provide different services to the same clients. It’s enabled me to build a Rolodex of experts to solve my clients’ challenges in financing, insurance and legal matters.

That ‘credential’ has enabled me to build the independent consulting business that brings in a healthy six figures with no additional staff or infrastructure for nearly fourteen years.

However, just as my clients’ businesses have changed over the past few years, my business has changed. I’ve changed.

With each passing year, as my personal expertise grew, my interests and focus shifted – sometimes very naturally and incrementally. And sometimes I could see that I wanted to make huge shifts that required deliberate redesign.

For instance, during the first four years of my independent consulting work, clients asked me to develop business plans for them. I did many plans, and then realized that I was the most expert person about their strategy… and that was not the vision I hold for my clients.

I’m passionate about people being more expert and more capable at their business. So I shifted from ‘doing’ their plans, to guiding them through the thinking and decision making and planning so that they are continually more expert in their business.

Did that change whom I work with? You bet! Today I work with people who want to become more skilled than they are now, and not those who want to outsource key decision-making to others.

Those big business credentials? They’re an interesting talking point, but nowadays prospective clients want to know other things: Can I help them get clear on their business vision and goals? How quickly can I help them build more effective teams? And what should they do about work-arounds they’ve used to avoid fixing obstacles?

The result? I have clients who realized they had by-passed a profitable niche by doing scattershot marketing. Others saw an unprofitable product could be a powerhouse door opener that always leads to up-sells that are 30-50% profitable. And some clients realize they’re devoting resources to a product line that isn’t part of their core offering, and holds a higher value if they sell it off.

Each time I think I’ve got my own business model set, the external world changes my own opportunities dramatically – new technology, changing business models across industries, new customer expectations for response time and so on.

Just as my clients have to stay ‘fresh and relevant’ for their customers, so do I. So, just as I challenge my clients’ thinking about their business, I repeatedly challenge my own.

Here are some questions I ponder: – How long have I been delivering my products or services ‘this’ way? – What circumstances brought me to this business model? – Have those circumstances changed significantly? – Does my model reflect what the market is seeking now? – Does my message reflect who my clients are now?

What about you? When did you last check whether your own business model is a fit today for your opportunities and the way YOU want to work?

If you are in a growing stage of your business (or want to be), the strongest advice I can give you is: Go for Something That Reflects Your Future, Not Your Past.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.

In recent years the home party business has become big business. A number of people are finding it a lucrative way to own thier own business.

Many of us grew up knowing about Tupperware and Avon products. These were some of the pioneers in the home party business. Basically these were items that couldn’t be purchased in a retail store; they had to be ordered through a company representative who had his or her own home party business.

Over the past few years this business has grown by leaps and bounds. It’s proven to be a great way for people to earn their living or bring in extra money. So many people are sick of working nine to five, Monday through Friday, and answering to one or several bosses. They are also tired of worrying about their job security. Running a home party business allows those same people the chance to work at home and be their own boss as well.

It’s amazing the variety of items you can now purchase or sell through a home party business. Clothing, candles, jewelry, cleaning products, make-up and skin products, silk flowers, decorative items, and cooking accessories are just a few of the products you can buy. Now craft parties are also very popular. Party guests get together and learn how to make beautiful scrapbooks or photo albums. They also meet to work on craft projects together.

For instance rubber stamping is big in the home party business these days. It doesn’t sound like much, but actually there are an amazing number of things you can do with them, including creating greeting cards, stationery, and even wall art. The great aspect for the host or hostess is that all the papers, inks, stamps, and other supplies are all ordered through them, often making them a handsome sum of money.

There are several reasons why guests like to attend these events. Often they can see products that they don’t see in stores, but only through someone who has a home party business. There is also the social aspect of these parties. People with common interests get together, make friends, and learn about something new, all at once. When people are having a good time with each other, they tend to buy more because they feel good. This of course is advantageous for the host of the party.

There is another feature that’s usually a part of the home party business. In addition to selling the products, the host or hostess is usually expected to recruit someone from the guest list to host their own party and hopefully start their own business as well. The more people they can bring in, the more rewards there will be in it for them.

If you’re thinking about trying a home party business, you should know that you’re usually required to invest money in inventory. It’s similar to opening a chain store as a franchise. You’re your own boss, but you also have to answer to the company, follow their rules, and sell their products. A home party business is perfect for stay-at-home moms who want to bring in some money and have more social interaction.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.

There is big talk these days about diversifying and not putting all of your income eggs into one basket. If you are in direct sales or a home party plan company, this applies to you too. You need to make sure that you have multiple ways to monetize your current customers.

This can sometimes mean selling products from more than one company. Two of the best companies to do this with are Tupperware and AVON.

Both companies have universal appeal. Both are household names, and both have been serving customers for decades. Chances are, your mother and grandmother has purchased products from both Tupperware and AVON.

The customer base is about the same too. AVON has new catalogs and campaigns every two weeks; Tupperware has new brochures almost every month.

The products do not compete, but complement one another. Your customers will appreciate the strength and variety of the products you offer.

So how do you sell both Tupperware and AVON together locally, in your offline business market? It’s actually a lot easier than you would think.

The best way to notify new customers that you are selling both AVON and Tupperware is to prepare door hangers to hang on various doors throughout your neighborhood, or a new neighborhood close to your home. Purchase these door hangers from AVON, as Tupperware’s are more expensive.

In the door hanger, place your current AVON campaign, and a monthly flier from Tupperware, and a business card saying “Contact me for a FREE gift!”. Your free gift can be an AVON sample or a Tupperware Citrus Peeler.

Place one of these door hangers on every door in the neighborhood. No need to knock on the doors if that makes you uncomfortable, but be sure and introduce yourself to anyone you see outside.

Keep in mind that your first attempt at attracting a new neighborhood will probably be unsuccessful. Customers generally need to see an offer between 3 and 7 times before they take action.

So what do you do? You repeat this method for no less than the next two campaigns. If you can afford it, do three or four more campaigns in the exact same neighborhood.

The easiest way to do this is to buy catalogs by the 100. Spend one to two months on any given neighborhood, collect your new customers, and move onto the next neighborhood. You should pick up 5-10 new customers from each campaign.

Since AVON catalogs come out every two weeks, and Tupperware brochures every month, include only one Tupperware brochure per month. This will save you a little money.

In a matter of months, you will have dozens of new customers and will have built up both businesses. Your AVON customers will order from you on average once per month, and your Tupperware customers once every two to three months.

Keep in mind that your customers may also be enticed to date a Tupperware party. Because you have built a relationship with them over the months, when they decide they are ready to have a party, it will be you they come to.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.

Whether seeking a supplemental income or a full-time income, many folks have undertaken the task to discover a viable home based business solution to meet their personal needs.

For most folks who contemplate a home business, a low-cost or no-cost solution is not only nice, but also very necessary. Many also seek to find a home business that will permit them to maintain their regular day job in order to protect their base income.

Taking the cautious approach to a home based business and keeping one’s job during the start-up period is often a very good decision. By maintaining one’s job, one can maintain the health of their personal finances while permitting their home business grow healthy and strong.

Fortunately, most home based businesses can be started with little or no cash, can be maintained on a shoestring budget, and can be operated successfully with only a part-time investment.

One day, the business will be strong enough to support itself and its owner. When that time comes, it will make good sense for the business owner to leave his or her outside job to dedicate more time to growing and maintaining their new thriving home based business. You will know when that time has finally arrived.

The nature of a home based business makes it easy and very realistic for most folks to take the plunge into home business ownership.

Yet, many folks put off starting their own home based business, because they have the misconception that they will have to risk thousands of their own hard-earned dollars at start-up. Then later, if their business fails, they fear they may be forced to take out a second mortgage on their house just to stay out of bankruptcy.

Are you one of these folks? Do you let your fears of failure keep you from reaching for your dreams?

If so, then allow me to introduce you to a few home business ideas that you can start for less than $100 and can be started and operated very profitably as a part-time business.

THE LIFEBLOOD OF ALL SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES

First of all, let me advise you to search out a business model that will deliver steady and repeat business. It is the one thing — above all others — that will assure that your company can survive the test of time.

HOME-BASED MAIL ORDER: Home-based mail order is a good example of how one can quickly grow a home business income. Mail order is a low cost start-up business that can be launched for around $100 USD.

With proper planning, your home-based mail order business will not require up-front inventory purchases. In the mail order business, it is not uncommon to rely upon drop-shippers for product fulfillment services.

By utilizing drop-shippers, we can sell the products, collect the money and then purchase the products from the wholesale outlet. The wholesale outlet will then put a return address for your company on the product packaging and deliver the product directly to your customer.

By using the following link, you can explore the drop-ship directory, which will let you explore the drop-shipping companies that will enable you sell 500,000 products from over 1,000 brand name manufacturers:

http://www.home-business.com/dropship.html

Your primary expense in the mail-order business is advertising. Classified advertising tends to be a relatively inexpensive form of advertising with thousands of outlets available to the small business owner.

WHOLESALE BUSINESS: Buy low — sell high. You can acquire high quality, top-of-the-line merchandise for a fraction of the retail cost. Starting a wholesale business would require a Wholesale Dealers Directory as your source for merchandise, such as the one above or the one listed here:

http://www.home-business.com/auction.html

AUCTIONS: Auctions can be an excellent source for buying cheap and selling high. Both government auctions and Internet auctions can lead to some excellent profit opportunities. Auctions are an excellent tool for both acquiring and selling merchandise.

MAKE AND SELL YOUR CRAFTS: Crafts are a hot seller at country fairs, swap meets or anyplace where people gather. Make your own crafts and sell them for a tidy profit!

SELLING INFORMATION: Selling information by mail is another good example of an inexpensive home based business start-up. One can gain the resale rights to information for usually about $50 USD. Other costs will include printer cartridges, paper and postage. There are plenty of free classifieds sites on the Internet, in which to successfully advertise your information.

WRITE INFORMATIONAL BOOKLETS: Write and publish your own informational booklets; sell them at a high price! All you need is a little know-how, a printer, paper and stamps. This is a GREAT home business idea! You can also sell the resale rights to others, for extra profits. In this age of the Internet, you may also take advantage of the fact that selling information is one of the most profitable endeavors one can pursue online.

OFFICE SERVICES: Offer office services for hire in your local paper. You’ll be surprised at the amount of regular office business that can be gleaned from one little classified ad. Word processing, typing, accounting, data entry, proofreading, transcription, promotional letters and newsletters. All these tasks can be accomplished right from your own home office.

AVON REPRESENTATIVE: Yes, Avon’s been around for eternity, hasn’t it? Then it’s not such a bad prospect as a home based business, is it? I once knew a woman who did so much business as an Avon rep. that she had people calling her and knocking at her door wanting to order products at all hours of the day and night! Once you are an established Avon representative, you, too, will turn a good profit.

CONCLUSION: On your search for the ideal home based business, try not to get caught up in any scams that will run off with your money. There are thousands of scam artists out there just waiting for the next sucker to come along. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Just use your good judgement and invest wisely in proven methods of earning extra income.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.

Are you looking to work from home and heard that Avon was a great and easy way to make money? Avon is a great company and has some great products to sell. It seems to be very popular because every other day I have a new Avon catalog hanging from my door. There is a lot of competition with Avon.

It is a company that has been around a long time and is a network marketing company. An Avon sales representative will make more money if she is able to recruit me to her business. Then she will make a portion off of everything that I sell. The more sales she has including the volume in her down line; she will make more and I will be doing all the work.

Each month, you will have a certain quota to meet in order to earn your commissions on your sales. As mentioned before, the more you sell, the more commission you will make.

Avon is a huge commitment and is not as easy as it looks. You don’t just have customers calling you for product. You will on the other hand, be making flyers, passing them out to your district, which has been assigned to you. You will then have to purchase samples, cards, bags, and everything else an Avon customer expects from their sales rep.

The reason I know this is because I sold Avon for over a year. The first month I did great, had a lot of support from my supervisor, I was excited and calling all my family and friends to let them know I was selling Avon and to please order something to help me get started.

It was downhill from there, less sales, but a lot more work. You have to go to weekly meetings where they will get you all excited to go out and sell again, and give prizes to the rep with the highest sales total. There you are encouraged to buy the new line of something that is going to be the main feature in the next catalog. So you are investing more money over time than you are actually making.

I had a storeroom that was so filled with Avon products that I ended up having a yard sale just to get some of my money back. I was selling the products below my wholesale because I needed the money. I couldn’t afford to sell Avon any longer. I wondered how the other reps seemed to do it. But as I got to know them, I realized that they were in the same position that I was in.

I can’t explain what the reasons are, but there is something that we, the sales reps are not told, are not able to create that success that you see the top people able to achieve. They seem to flaunt the small 10% of those that succeed, whether it is because they are investing thousands of their own money and therefore earning the accolade of achievement, I’m just not sure.

But they don’t let you know of the other 90% who are struggling and trying to figure out exactly what I have explained. How are they doing it? Why can’t I do this successfully? What am I doing wrong? Avon shouldn’t be this difficult to make money with.

I just think, through the entire network marketing sales programs I have tried, that none of them work. I thought Avon would be different, but it wasn’t. I have continued to gravitate towards network marketing because I had small children at home and I was trying to earn some extra money without having to leave them. But time and time again, I failed, but not by sitting doing nothing, because I worked very hard. I just can’t explain what it is. But there is a way to find out.

Please Contact Me if you need any information about this company or are interested in joining.
