Athletes and How They Practice Good Social Media Management Through Twitter

Athletes and Twitter are starting to turn into a beneficial relationship. Athletes now can go on Twitter and peddle their brand and their celebrity. Thanks to social media management athletes like Chad Ochocinco made himself famous through Twitter. Twitter gives you an inside look into what an athlete really is off the field, court, or ice. Which makes social media management so exclusive. You can upgrade a nobody player and make him famous through online marketing.

Ochocinco is direputable for his Twitter and how he uses it. Ochocinco uses his Twitter to promote giveaways by tweeting him or by saying outlandish stuff. Ochocinco one time interrogate Sofia Vergara on a date through twitter. He is entertaining on Twitter which makes him one of the most followed athletes. I personally feel because of Twitter its what got him that dating show he is building his brand through effective social media management.

Another athlete that uses Twitter to dilate his image is Shaq. In fact he is the most popular athlete on Twitter. He averages 51 tweets a month he is very savvy when it comes to online marketing. He uses his Twitter account as an outlet to speak his mind and he develops quite a stir especially his analysis of NBA games. He tends to give a very blunt evaluation of players that might ruffle a few feathers.

In addition Shaq another athlete that used Twitter for online marketing is NBA player Gilbert Arenas. The ex Wizard tweets pictures of him planking. He also tweets the play by play of all his blind dates which can be delightful. One memorable moment was when one of his twitter hiijinks actually cost him a lawsuit. Arenas sued his ex-fiancee to keep her from going on the next “Basketball Wives” show, alluded to his name, and telling the whole world his business. He lost because of Twitter and because of his constant criticizing of women in prior tweets.

Twitter can be a great tool to promote yourself as a brand especially for athletes. Twitter can evolve you from a local name to a household as per Ochocinco. On the other hand you must use common sense when you tweet. If not you could face a lawsuit like Arenas did. Twitter can really help and get their point across to the masses. It also can help athletes communicate with their fans. Which never was conceivable in the past.
